Have an '06 Screw 4X4 5.4L FFV. Gas mileage is a little worse than most due to I run E85, but I'm still getting 10-13mpgs with strictly city driving. Of course depending on the quality of fuel and where you live can play into your MPG's. Here in CO, mpg's drop due to the altitude & hills/mtns.

Now I'm not as familiar with the '04/'05s, but I've heard of plenty that have had to change their LS rear diff. Ford just issued the brake line recall on '05/'06 models, so this is one thing you'd want to check into if you got the '05. Personally, I'd recommend the '05 over the '04, simply due to the '04s being the first year model. Not sure of what all was effected, but I did hear they had a lot of nagging little issues but nothing too major.

I've seen people run 33's on their stock F150 rims without cutting/rubbing. Also seen people with a 2.5" level, no level/lift in the rear and run 35's.

A 2.5" level may make your front just slightly higher than the rear, unless you bring the rear up a little. I'd think a 2" level would bring the front up more evenly with the rear without touching the rear.

butch1581,

I am new on this site so I have no pics yet, but I own a 2007 4x4 Supercrew XLT. I love the truck, but I have only been able to manage 14.8 mpg. It does not seem to matter when I calculate the fuel economy or how I have been driving (highway/city) I always seem to get 14.8 mpg. I have always purchased my gas (regular octane) from Wal-Mart or a grocery store because it is usually the cheapest. But here recently, I have experimented with buying Chevron regular octane gas. Two out of the last three fill-ups I calculated 15.3 mpg.

Everyone else on the site,

I am wondering if there is anything I can do to get better gas mileage with my truck???? I noticed that Heavywrecker is getting 15.5 mpg with his 5.4L (same engine as mine) while carrying 1500 lbs of tools, and I think he has a 4x4 too. Nichos, you get 15-17 mpg; are you driving a 4x4? Do you have a 5.4L?
