I will be getting a new car in October and want to get rid of my problematic tow rig I have now before the new car comes
Buying the truck you mention is not going to solve your issue of a problematic tow rig. You will just end up with a different problematic tow rig.

If you want a cheap tow rig find a 03 they are a lot cheaper then a 04-08 and less problematic. Mines got 246,500 miles on it with the 5.4 and it's still going strong.idk how much that was but it was heavy. Truck didn't have too much trouble.

Alright so I pulled the trigger and bought the truck off an accountant who has had it since 2004. There was over 30 pages of oil change history, and various other repairs provided with the truck. The guy who owned it before seemed to really take care of it well. I drove it home last night over 90 miles without any issues, and started it this morning and everything seems good, 4x4 works interior is clean, tires look new. Over all I am happy with it. Here are some pics.

Had you mentioned it was 4x4 the $7k price tag is closer to what it should be. The rust doesn't look too out of hand yet, but I'm sure there is some hidden where you can't see. Other than the rust it looks like a decent truck. Keep up with the 5.4 engine or it will cost you a ton down the road.

Didn't realize 4x4 changed the price really. I plan to keep up with the engine the best I can, read a ton on the forums sounds like they are finicky for sure.

4x4 increases the value quite a bit, I'd say 1500-2k or so.
