Default Longtube Headers Questions

I'm considering doing some long tube headers on my 2005 f150 fx4. I have a cracked manifold or I wouldn't even consider it because I already know how big of a pain it is to do. However I have a few questions. What are the best brands? Will I require an aftermarket tune? I seen that I would somewhere. As of right now I'm considering Pacesetter long tubes with their off road y pipe and true duals after the y pipe. I know the CEL will come on because of o2 sensor not having any cats but will that cause my truck to run bad? I don't mind getting custom tunes later on to get the CEL turned off but if its going to cause problems then I will need to get a custom tune at the same time.

Basicallly what im asking is what else do I need to run long tubes and an off road y pipe?

Thanks for all the help guys and BTW no emission testing where I live.

One more question. With long tubes, an off road y pipe, and dual exhaust, a CAI, and a custom tune, how much horsepower am I looking at with a 2005 ext cab fx4?

I have all of that plus a supercharger and a few other small things. I'm not sure about what horsepower you would be at but you will definitely be able to tell the difference after you get all of that done.

Best headers? Stainless Works.
CEL? Yes, you are removing the cats and rear o2's. You can turn this off with an SCT hand held.
Will you need a tune? No. Will it help? Certainly.

They are fun to do. I did headers at the same time with the blower. I wouldn't do duals from the Y but that's me.

Dynatech look to be good headers and are made for the 4x4 trucks.

Thanks for the help guys! Why about obx? Someone piste a link and a write up on the install with a link for the long tube headers and the off road y pipe for around $515 shipped.

Have any of you guys ha any experience with the headers off eBay? They don't say what brand they are and that makes me wonder.

I went with Pacesetter for mine. A little more in my price range and got the armor coating so they wouldnt corrode. Checked them inside and out and the welds looked great. Everything buttoned up nice. Im just curious as to why they didnt come with gaskets. Stainless and OBX are definitely good if you wanna drop that kind of money. Custom tune will help tremendously. Running no cats sounds good, but say bye bye to your gas mileage

Spend the money and get some high flow cats to go with whatever long tube headers you buy.

Everyone else that posted is correct. You don't need a tune but it will definitely help. Nothing beats a dyno tune that's specific to your vehicle. I used Pacesetter Quiktrips, Magnaflow high flow cats, Magnaflow X-pipe, and a pair of Magnaflow 22" SISO mufflers on my truck. As for the mufflers I got them that big because I'm tired of drone.

DynaTech and Stainless Works are your top end headers. They will last as long or longer than your truck. I have a set of Dynatechs that are 6 years old. They're ceramic coated and look like new. No issues, perfect fit, and yes they use the factory gaskets.

Look for 15-20rwhp. Low end power will see nice gains.
