Default Logest time you have every went...

what is the longest time you have ever went without changing your oil?

I change every 7500 with full synthetic. The reason I ask this is because of the following:

My dad just had a guy lock up the motor on his work truck that he is responsible for maintaining. They give them a truck stiepen of $725/mo that he has to use on buying and maintaining any new truck he wants as long as it is white and has the company magnet on the doors during work hours. His truck was a 2009 Chevy 1500 that was bought brand new for and now has 87k miles on it, and according to him he never once changed the oil.

i knew an old man, friend of my dads, that had an old datsun pickup truck. He had about 550K on the clock on his truck when the body finally fell apart. He would only change the oil filter ever 20000-30000 miles and top of the oil. he never once removed the oil drain plug.

Edit: I am like you. every 7000-7500 miles with full sythetic in my 2005 and when the oil starts to thin to much in my 1977.

That a good job to tackle over the weekend I have warped exhaust manifolds on mine. going to do headers for my birthday in January I hope. hopefully that quiets it down. If not the phasers will follow shortly thereafter.

I always do 3000 mile intervals with full synthetic, especially in these 3V engines which have most of their issues due to oil malnourishment.

Thats awesome to change every 3000. I just check my religiously so once it needs it, I change it. found that Mobile 1 full synthetic will usually last me the 7000 or so. with my 1977, I use delo 400 15w40, as that is what my dad has always used and it seems to keep it running for alot of miles. conventional oil is a whole different animal than sythetic though.

yeah im changing mine every 2500 because the wife takes the sticker off the window and i forget how many miles i had on it.... but my dad had a 97 f150 with a 4.6l 2v and i know as a fact it went from 180xxx to 240xxx without an oil change, sold it that way too and is still running. all my dad ever put in it was dirt cheap as oil called bullseye, he got it relatively new and always used it. i wouldnt run my 5.4 3v with it for 5 minutes stuff looked like sludge coming out of the bottle. he always said the 4.6 is fine as long as it has oil in it, it will run forever, dumb basterd was always right about his 4.6's

I normally use the factory recommended mileage or 5,000. If the oil starts to look dirty will change it early.
Just changed to Mobil 1 full synthetic so maybe will go to 7,000. Will see how the appearance is.
My father in law had a '71 El Camino that he purchased new. Sold it to his son when it had about 80,000 miles on it. Son asked what type of oild he had used. The old man said none. Car had never burned any and still had the original oil in it. Had to tear the front of the engine apart at 135,000 miles to replace the timing chain and gears.

I'm getting ready to head North for a few days, so I decided to change the oil in mine. The last time I changed it was in April when I did the radiator. That was about 18,000 miles ago. That seems common for me as I run my truck about 95% on the highway. I am almost to 183,00 now and still running strong. I use Mobile 1 with the Motorcraft filter and right now, my oil is still pretty clear.

I try and change mine every 3k miles. A guy I work with has a 2006 f150 with a 5.4 and he hasn't change the oil in over 30k miles. He told me he never changes any of his oil.
