Limited Slip Information?
So what I've been seeing. These trucks come with LS (mine being 05 Lariat SuperCrew). I'm not to familiar with this, but what I've made out so far is that when a tire slips is directs more power to the other tire? My rear driver side tire spins all the time, weather it's cause of wet roads, ice, mud, ect. It's only the rear driver, the rear passenger never moves. Does this mean my LS is bad? Is it worth fixing? Alternatives? Pricing? Any information would be appreciated.

Well first off you may not have LS, look in your door sticker under axle and give us the code.
If it is a LS I'd get it fixed, chances are it's time for you differential fluid to be changed anyways. You can get a rebuild kit from Jegs for about $90. I got a friend of the family to install mine for $100, plus parts, seals bearings if needed, as well as a gear change in my mustang. Getting a shop to do it is more costly.

The options are:
Ford factory limited slip-Trac-lok which has clutches and needs the same in terms of installation as other options. The clutches are a pita to deal with IMO.
Eaton/Detroit tru-trac which is a clutchless limited slip, requires no maintenance.
Full locker(which I would not recommend)
There are other makes/models of these as well, but in a nut shell these are the more popular/well known unit. If you have a 5.4 and 4x4, you have a 9.75" rear and I want to say 33 spline. If 4.6 it is 8.8 and 31 spline. Don't quote me on the spline count, been awhile.
I have a post on this prob from about this time last year with some info/part numbers.
I was quoted out at 900$ for the front and $400 for the rear if I recall. Some say you can do these in your driveway, please don't unless you know what you are doing.

Thanks for all the info guys. I wasn't sure if I had it or not. Which I guess I don't, I would like it, but with those prices, it will be a different day lol. For now I will look into changing my differential fluid ( just as mainenance). Thanks again.
