Probably a dumb question, but does anybody know what the red light/ button located right of the parking brake and left/under the steering wheel does? It's an 05 Lariat. My security theft light is on the dash, so I'm not sure what this light does. It also has a button on it. When you push it to turn on the red light, it clicks 4 times

That's not stock sounds like the previous owner had something hooked up to it at one time maybe.

Kind of a stretch, but do you happen to have an aftermarket radio/screen? I have a buddy who put a switch in the same spot on his Tacoma. He uses it to allow the DVD/Movie function (usually wired to parking break) to play while driving, then if he was pulled over, he would hit the switch to turn the DVD/Movie off and appear as if he wasn't watching a movie while driving. Could be used for anything though.

I have an 04 and I have a switch similar to yours. I have no idea what it goes to. I would like to find out. Mine is a lariat also.

Remote start? On my 05 the light tells the condition of the remote start, and the button is a kill switch reset.

It is connected a box that says Omega R&D, which has a wire on the other side. It is just sitting on "ledge". I googled "Omega R&D". Looks like it's an alarm system

This specific one in my truck is the AL-101. I am assuming that the red light on means the security system is on?

AG, it may be for remote start, but when I bought it, the dealer didnt have the original remote, and had to program one. They did not mention programming it as a remote start
