OK guys... new to the forum... bought my 04 XLT 4x4 almost 2 years ago now... tired of waiting for the extended warranty to run out to lift her, so I'm sayin' screw it, I need new tires anyway... might as well lift it and put bigger tires on her!
What is my best way about doing this? I would like to go with 35's.. or the equivalent... stock 17's now... should I go with a 15" rim maybe? What sizes could I put on the 17" rim?
Lifting wise, I hear everyone saying a body lift would just look bad... any thoughts on this?
Would a 3" suspension lift be good enough for 35's? or would I be better off just getting a 6"?
I don't want to go too extreme, just beef her up a little bit...
Any feedback would be great!!

Welcome to the forum. I am interested in hearing everyone's thoughts as far as what's the best way to get some lift as I am thinking about doing mine a little, but nothing too extreme.

You can run 35's with just a 2.5" leveling kit.

I personally don't like body lifts but that's just me.

It really boils down to how much you're willing to spend. You can throw a 2.5" leveling kit on there and some 35x12.50's and look good and save yourself a lot of money. You could throw a 6" suspension lift on there with some 35's and look better, but spend a lot more. You could even throw an 8" suspension lift on there and go with some 36's or 37's and look even better, but drop some serious cash.

Keep in mind the higher you go and the bigger the tire the more the need will be that you regear the truck which will add to your costs. Also you will need to adjust your speedo and shift points once you lift and add larger tires. You can do that through your dealership or you can go buy a tuner and some custom tuning.

The problem is once you start lifting you're going to want to go bigger so it really depends on how much cash you ahve to spend.

6" with 35's on 17" rims is perfect. I had the Procomp stage 1 and it was fine. The ride was very smooth. I believe that if you regear with 4:56's it will perform like stock.

I just put a 3" suspension on mine. I run 35x12.50's on my stock 18's. no rubbing at all and I think it looks great I'm just waiting to find the time to take and post pictures! all in all I spent almost exactly $1400

17" wheels are the smallest diameter to clear the brakes on the 04's and up. I would go with a 2 1/2" leveling kit or Bilstein 5100 leveling shock's up front if your shock's are worn. You can use stock 17" wheels with a 285x295 or 305x70 tires. These range from just under 33 inches to 34 inches tall. Any of these tires will look great on a leveled 4x4. Does anyone know if Bridgestone or Firestone makes a 35x12.50-17 tire? I can't seem to have any luck finding that size/brand anywhere.. reason is, I have a buddy with connections through them (50% off) those.
