i Just bought my 08 f-150xlt 4x4 super crew.... i used the seach key to try and see what kit i should but i have not gotten a clear answer. Some people say get 2inch blocks, some say 2.5, and others say 3in. WHICH ONES DO I GET???? please help and thanks for any answers i get.

Ok General rule of thumb for a 4 wheel drive truck
1) 2" equals 33" tire with NO brush guard or no added weight to the front of truck
2) 2.5" equals 35" tire or if your planning on hanging brush guard or added weight to the front
3) only do a 3" leveling kit on your truck if you are willing to do alot more front end work then just the leveling kit.

i put a 2.5" autospring kit on my 2005 fx4 and it looks perfect. against a measuring tape the front end is 3/4" lower. 3" levelling kits are not a good idea though

You can fit 35s with a 2" spacer.

Get a 2" if you leaving the front end alone, get the 2.5" if you are going to add a brush guard or something else that will add weight. You can run the same size tire no matter what.

damn if I new that then I would have put 35's on my truck I was always told 33's with 2" ok THORrider350 there you have it I stand corrected

It really just comes down to whether it's a 2WD or 4WD. 2WD's can run 33s while 4WD's can run 35s with leveling kits on stock size wheels or wheels with similar specs as the stockers.

I have the exact same truck. I put a 2" Skyjacker coil spring spacer lift on the front to level. I then mounted 34X10.5X17 Super Swamper LTBs on it. Got both from Summit Racing. Total cost...DIY was about $800 tires and lift. No problem with tire size... and no rubbing at full steering lock. Used the stock rims too. The tires jusssst come to the body line profile-wise, so flares aren't needed either.


And the Skyjacker spacers actually attach to the top of the entire spring/strut assembly. Worked very well. Takes a little elbow grease to get the assembly back in with the spacer on. But I did one myself and had a bud help push stuff around with the other (much easier with a helper). If you're doing it yourself, make sure you have jack stands and extra hydraulic jacks for holding/lifting the A-arm and steering knuckle when you drop it. Also, make sure you have all the right sockets before you begin. The nut/bolt holding the lower spring/strut assembly on is rather large.

Is there any major difference between the popular leveling kits?

I jumped the gun, bought a Hell Bent Steel 2.5" kit, then found more info on this forum about other kits. The most popular seems to be the AutoSpring kit. Should I have gotten the AS, or is the HBS comparable? Does anyone have any experience with the HBS 2.5" kit?
