Default Leveling an extended cab long bed

I have a 2005 ford f150 xl with an extended cab and 8ft bed. I was looking to level it out with strut extensions but I don't know which size would be best. 2.5", or 3". I know the bigger you go the more stress it puts on the joints but I am just thinking that since I have a really long f150 that I might need to go bigger. I don't have bigger tires for it now but I plan on upgrading to them in the future. So if someone can help me out that would be great. Thanks

Not an extended cab, but I went 2-1/2" and like it just fine.

I have a 2.5 on a supercrew 4x4 and it has my truck sitting damn near perfect. Just thought I'd throw my couple pennies in for ya!

You can measure it to see what you need.

2.5" normally will get it taken care of.

I have the same truck but an 07 XLT. I had leveled it first with a 2.5" Spacer, then added an AAL to raise the rear 2", and most recently swapped shocks for Bilstein 5100s and took out the front spacer.

If you can spare the cash, buy the Bilsteins. You can choose from several different ride heights, and get a better ride at the same time. You may want to look at getting some uniball UCAs eventually as well. I got mine on ebay and don't have to worry about wearing them out with the extra lift.
