This is in a 2011, but seeing as its a universal install I thought it might be appropriate. The camera seems to get me the full 480 tvl and it's paired with a rear view mirror with lcd screen. I also wired it up to a switch. Total cost was about $150.

Alright guys I have a problem, I tried to install my back up camera yesterday but I ran out of time. Now the problem is, when I connected the camera the the stereo, I have a avh x4500bt pioneer, and I put the truck in reverse, the screen doesn't change to the camera. But I can turn the camera on and off manually on the HU. What could be the problem? I have the ground connected to the black wire of the reverse tail light and the positive to the black/purple wire.

You need to run a trigger wire from the deck to to black pink wire "reverse light" which is your "switch".. Your missing 1 wire.

I got it to work, I didn't connect the reverse trigger wire from the HU. Unfortunately the camera is to big to fit where I want it, so I'm going to buy a tailgate handle with the hole for the camera and buy a camera.

New backup camera in the tailgate installed and looking like factory install...

Picture doesn't do this justice, it is a sharp image. Really does look good. I will be adding the backup sensors today.

I'm having a problem with my camera. My reverse trigger works but I just get a black screen. Have a pioneer 2800bs by the way.

I'd check your power and ground; where are you drawing them from?

I'm drawing from my driver side reverse light. Have my power hooked up to the black/violet and ground to the black. You think take it back apart and make sure my connection is good?
