Default Leer vs. A.R.E. Lids

Narrowed it down to these two and still need to decide between the Leer 700 vs the ARE lid. Does anyone have any pics of a Leer that is installed on their trucks. It's hard to get an idea through brochures. The Leer seem to be quite a bit cheaper $850 compared to the LSX at $1199 and seem to have the same options, just wondering if anyone has dealt with either one. Can you drive with them up if you have to?

i got a are lsII for $350 used last week. its the wrong color but a repaint is only like $250. so i have the top of the line tonneau for half of what it retails for. just keep an eye on craigslist and ebay and you will find a great deal. took me only a month to find this one. as far as quality i really like the ARE so far. the lift shocks do there job it fits tight to the bed sides(no water leaks) and seems all together really solid.

Trout bum-

I recently put an A.R.E. fiberglass topper on my 08 screw. It came down to them and LEER but ARE was about $200 cheaper (they had a $100 rebate).

When I was at the ARE dealer looking at them there was a guy in there that started talking to me. Turns out he works at FORD and sells replacement parts to body shops and started asking me about my truck.

He had a 2004 extended cab with the ARE fiberglass cap that is flat on top of the bed. He had it for 4 years (and almost 100K miles) and noticed some spider cracks in the finish. Took it to the dealer and ARE sent him a brand new cover at no cost, also paid for the installation.
