I think he's referring to the shop trying to take advantage of a woman thinking they are ignorant.

Is it seeping any oil where the axle tube is pressed/welded into the differential housing? That's not uncommon on trucks as they get some miles and years on them. I wonder if this is what our resident genius is talking about. Just for fun you should ask for a quote on that job.

I'd take the truck back to them, kindly ask them to put it on their lift, and show you the so called leak. Then ask them to explain how your truck can be leaking at a "inner seal" when you don't have one.

Then find a new shop.

Try looking for drip marks and leak stains on your tires and rear brake dust shields. They could have ment your axle seals at the end of the tubes which is a very common failure.. You should be able see some kind of a stain in this area or on the inside of the rim if a seal is leaking..

Is it possible the service guy entered the info wrong and it is a front axle seal?

Have a look under the truck and see if that is leaking.

Nothing is leaking...and when my summer tires came off the inside of the rims were clean. I changed both rear axle seals last summer so they are barely six months old. I rarely go to sears, only when I need a tire swap or a very basic service. I'm sure he was mistaken. The underside of the truck was wet from snow and ice, I will check for leaks over the next few days just in case he was referring to something else. I've done a lot of work on my truck over the last year, that's why I panicked. I just don't have time to deal with any major repairs, very busy remodeling a house....funny how these repairs can come up at the worst times. I'm sure it's nothing. Just being a bit of a hypochondriac with my truck, I try to keep her healthy.

I know how it can be. I just got done doing VCT solenoids, oil change and fuel filter and found out my rear axle is leaking on the drivers side.

I've done the whole IWE system over, vct solenoids, plugs and COP's, vacuum lines, axle seals, FPDM, passenger exhaust manifold, universal joints, wheel bearings....the list goes on and on.....all done within the last YEAR. Love my truck but this year was pretty bad as far as repairs go.
