Hey Guys / Girls,

I'm new to the site, this is one of the phew forum sites I can access here at work with the horrible firewalls they got going on. But looks like fun.

I got a 04 f-150 triton but unfortunately only 2wd. I'm looking to put a lift on it and have been looking at the difference between a 6 inch lift on a 2wd compared to the already lifted 4 wd. If I put a lift on my truck, I want everyone to know it's lifted and I want it to be beefy and the 6 inch lifts on the 2wd's aren't just doing it for me. Anyone got some suggestions on lifts, tires, rims with these 2 wd trucks. And possibly how much I'm looking to spend? Thanks!

Well wxmcpo has a lifted 2wd drive F150 and loves it. I plan on doing a lift also near Christmas time but I'm wanting to do an 8" lift.

Do you know how much a 4x4 is lifted already more then just the 2wd?

I'm not sure but I've been wondering that myself lately. I've been noticing alot more 4x4 F150's and it looks like they sit higher stock than the 2wd's

My dad's got a 4x4 f250 with a 6 1/2 inch lift and it looks huge! I'm gonna go with a 8 inch lift with hopefully 37 inch tires. Do you know anything about how well 37's would fit in the wheel well? I'm thinking I might have to shave some of it.

I THINK they'll fit with a 6" lift but I'm not real sure though.

As Triton mentioned I have a lifted 2WD and there's no mistaking that my truck is lifted. A stock 4WD is equipped with 2" lift blocks in the rear so they already have a 2" lift advantage over a stock 2WD. When I was doing research for my lift the biggest lift I found for a 2WD was 7.5" so I don't know if there's an 8" lift out there for our 2WD trucks or not. There are a couple of options though that would get you the size lift you want plus more. You could go with a 6" lift and a 2" leveling kit to get you 8" of lift or you could go with a 6" lift and a 3" body lift, although I don't like body lifts at all.

Check out my thread of latest pics on my truck to give you an idea what a 2WD with a 6" lift and 35's looks like. I got a compliment from the gate guard as I was coming onto base yesterday that my truck was easily the best looking truck he has ever seen. That's a great compliment considering that mine is only a lifted 2WD. I don't think you'd have any issues with 37's with an 8" lift.

2wdf150 and triton: in answer to both ur questions, yes, the stock 4x4s sit higher than stock 2wd because of the different suspension components they have. the 2wd's are tryin to give a more comfortable ride on the highway while the 4x4s are upgraded wit suspension kits in order to give it a bit more ground clearance and whatnot.

2wdf150: if u go to my gallery, my truck is sittin stock wit a 2" leveling kit and 365s on it and, in my opinion, it sets off an aggressive look in its own. but id love to lift it, like ur aiming for. in my opinion, alot of the looks comin from a truck are the tires. its like gettin a new pair of blue-suade shoes! it keeps it stylin! but if i had the money, id love to lift mine, at the most, 6 inches, cause as u get higher, the ride gets more and more uncomfortable on the highway, even though it helps alot off-road, but im not sure if ur gonna be doin much offroading with a 2wd. but good luck with ur choices! i just thought id put in my own opinion and help ya out!

hey, give me yalls opinion, since there's a couple of us online. ive been thinkin about debadging my truck and taking off the pin-striping that the factory had on it. check out my pics, and give me ur opinion

Another thing to keep in mind is the larger you go and the bigger tires you put on your truck then you're going to have to regear it. That's an additional cost to be aware of when planning everything.
