Default Later 2008 5.4 spark plug change

Alright, so i've been searching the past couple days about changing my plugs. I'm rolling over 120k soon so i figured it's about time to change them out. I've determined that my engine was built after 10/9/07 (mines 03/07/08) so my plugs shouldn't have the breaking problem.

Can anyone point me in the direction of which plugs to use(i know about FoMoCo, champion and brisk) and if i need different plugs than the engines built before 10/9/07

Motorcraft plugs are always the best bet with Fords.

Being it's an '08, you may have one of two head designs - confirm by:

COP number 8L3E = MC SP509 one-piece plugs (brown COP boots)

COP number 3L3E = MC SP515 two-piece plugs (black COP boots)

BTW - R&R interval is 60K - yer way overdue - note the gap growth when you pull them.

Don't forget new boots & springs, and proper application of silicon dielectric.

On a different forum, I read that the sticker on the valve cover give you the manufacture date of your engine, mine being 03/07/08, so it was definitely built prior to Ford making the change. So does that mean the boot color is always a determinate factor? because mine are black (unless my eyes are playing tricks on me)

if you do not have brown boots on your COP's you have the old style head's.. the Boot's are longer and are made to be used with the new head design...follow what MGD told you... 120K on plugs good luck getting them out in one piece..

So if the boots tell me this, does the build date matter at all? From other posts/forums I've read that boot color doesn't always mean old/new style.

Don't trust the boots? Ok - trust the part # (as listed above) marked on the TOP of the COPS.

OR - trust ye Mark 1 Eyeball and pull the #1 plug fer a 100% confirmation.

You indeed could have done that by now ....
