My truck just started making this sound today. Sounds like someone is tapping on a tin can with a coat hanger. The sound is coming from under the engine. When Im under the hood I cant hear it but It is crystal clear as day underneath the truck. The ticking matches the engines RPMs so its something with the engine. What the hell is this?

I already have a leak in the exhaust manifold. Could it have suddenly gotten worse?

You could have a bad lash adjuster, but exhaust leak is more likely. Is it louder in more confined areas like a drive-thru? If so good chance it's exhaust related.
