Those control arms are not easy to check. I haven't checked mine yet but for other cars I used a huge pipe pliers to squeeze the ball-joint and looking for some type of play, or a heavy duty rubber mallet hamer to pound on the ball joint while listening to the sound.

Are you getting any pulling to one side or the other with the brakes applied?

When you put new pads and rotors on, did the caliper compress smoothly?

Were the rotors from a big box store like autozone? Sometimes brand new rotors can warp from just sitting on the shelf off too long..

If it coasts and drives fine under acceleration, I'd definitely keep my focus on the brakes for now..

I did however fix a braking vibration I found on my fathers F150 by discovering a loose IWE bolt, and a loose caliper bracket on the passenger side. It Looked like some idiot loosened the wrong bolts while doing a brake job, and left them loose..

Best thing to do is check the entire brake system out thoroughly, and see what you come up with.. Putting a wrench to every bolt is gonna be the best way...

Yeah everything was smooth when i did the brakes got ford parts for everything. Theres no pulling to one side, and the truck makes no noise going over bumps or into corners only when i brake hopefully get a chance to go through it today.

Dont have time to take a look at the truck today but on my way home it sounded like it was coming from the back of the truck more of metal to metal banging together.

Well i found the problem good thing i went through the truck today. Found my u bolts on the rear axle were basiclly off and wiggling around. Good news is this got me to check my truck out good and everything is still nice and tight all original front end to love these trucks not a single issue with mine yet.

Nice! Glad to see you fixed the problem...

It sure was good you went through the truck today. U bolts being loose is a very dangerous, and could have gotten you into a severe accident.

Factory installed U bolts don't typically loosen up on there own. So its possible someone did not tighten them down appropriately when they serviced the rear axle, added lift blocks or serviced the leaf springs.... I suggest you double check the torque specs on anything the previous owner might have added or fixed on the truck...

Yeah im glad it was a free fix i basically went through everything making sure every bolt was tight probly going to grease up my drive shaft yoke tmrw im sure the loose axle was a little rough on the driveshaft .

Wow, i've never heard of u-joints just coming loose on their own. Sounds like either sabotage or a bonehead previous owner. Very dangerous.

If it were my truck, I'd replace those U-joints. They were probably stressed and not 100% anymore. Just good insurance and they're inexpensive as well.

Everything looks good it was the u bolts not the joints i only drove it for a few days/60 miles roughly with the clunking noise. But i do still have a little shake right before a complete stop hoping greasing the yoke and doin the rear brakes will fix it cause everything else checks out good on the truck.

I changed my brake pads and resurfaced rotors, got the knocking noise immediately after. I even exchanged the pads thinking they were defective. No luck. Then changed ball joints and tie rods still knocking or clunk sound when I brake.
