sounds like a great deal.
the wheels tires and cap alone would be worth 1200 bucks here in canada.

but you may end up spending quite a bit to fix worn parts, like your carpets, seats, motor, tranny and rusted cab corner.
if replacing motor with a low mileage one, why not tranny at same time?

I am not going to put money toward anything that doesn't need replaced. The carpets cleaned up great. I will have the driver's side seat bottom repaired, but all others are fine. No issues with the transmission, either. I don't want to spend $600-$800 on a replacement if not needed.

Happy with how the floor mats turned out. May work on the driver's side a bit more

Excuse my ignorance, but what are we looking at here, when you say that you have found the issue and that it was with the #4 cylinder?

I ask because, I am wondering could this have been avoided or is this an issue that can and will occur in our 5.4's? To follow-on with that, I am wondering what can be done as preventative maintenance to ensure that this does not happen? Thoughts?

Thanks!

I forgot to mention that I am not trying to hijack the thread with my questions.

I am digging the project that this thread is all about.

I saw the pic, but I am not certain of what it was that I was seeing. Thanks for the clarification. But, my question was could this have been avoided in our engines through some sort of maintenance?

This is the 3rd 5.4L 3V I have seen with this issue. One with 110k miles, one with 175k miles, and this one at 287k miles. 2 had no signs of sludge, 1 was very bad. I believe it is an issue with oil flow to the heads, causing rockers to fail.

[QUOTE=Do you have access to a lift?[/QUOTE]

No. I do have a lot of space, tools and a forklift. I basically do everything on my bikes and car. This is my first truck and the only frames I've changed have been on quads.. Lol.. I figured with the help of some friends i can get away without a lift. Sorry for derailing your thread and thanks for responding.
