Default King Ranch Project

Picked up yesterday. 2005 King Ranch, SuperCrew 4x4 with the 5.4L. 287k miles. Runs, but very rough and no power. Cab corners rusted out. Hole in driver's side seat. Gave $1200. Am I crazy?

Definitely not. Worth that in parts alone. Looks Like your in Ohio? I would have drove down from Michigan for that.

That's a great buy, you should be able to get much of that money back on the topper alone.

Definetly a good buy, I would have jumped on it in a heart beat! Just curious, where did you buy it from? I'm in southern Ohio.

not bad for 1200...rockers are shot too along with the cab corners but for a project what more can you ask

Swapped out 7 plugs so far. None have broken, but I do believe that these are the updated design. Still need to get the #8 cylinder changed. Gave much more resistance than the rest, so it is soaking in PB Blaster.

Still running very poorly after 7/8 plugs changed. Wants to die at idle, will rev but seems to have little power. Snap-On Solus Ultra reports no misfires in any cylinders. Can also monitor the VCTs. Does anyone know the operating range?

edit: If suppose I could use my Lariat to record the normal operating range for the VCTs.

With that many miles, I'd recommend doing a compression test and/or a leakdown test, so you can figure out how well the cylinders are sealing.
