Default Keyless entry upgrade

My 2004 crew does not have keyless entry. Is this an upgrade that I could do fairly easily? By keyless entry I mean the door handle with the number keys under the handle not the key fob. I have key fobs but want to know if I could upgrade my truck to this.

Thanks for any input

Yes however, from what I've read up on, Ford has to do it.. so you may be looking to spend a little bit

hmm.. that could very well be a lie because I was told from a rep over at Ford.. dealers will tell you anything :/ i was told that it had to be "manually programmed" into my locking system.. since i know nothing about computers really or re-programming on vehicles, i have nothing to back it up. Type in a search for Google as well, sometimes things will come up.

Does anyone else have any input?

You can install this on your truck no problem. What the dealer will have to do is flash the truck's computer to recognize the upgrade. The same with any factory electronic added to a truck that did not come with it from factory (i.e. Trailer Brake Controllers, fog lights). Not sure what your dealer will charge you for a flash. Some people have paid $10 and some have paid $60 (normal shop rate for 1 hour).

Just make sure it's plug and play for your year of truck. I think the connectors changed with body styles. Somebody that has more experience on wiring them will have to chime in on that. But you can always make adapter plugs. Lol.

Thanks everyone! My father is semi retired and works at a ford dealer so hopefully it wouldn't be too much to add this to my truck. I think it would be a decent upgrade. If I buy the one I found on craigslist and once I get it installed I will let everyone know how it went. I am updating my stereo and speakers as well so since I will need the door panel off I could install the door handle at the same time so I don't have to take it off twice!
Manuellabour247 I have a 2004 and the guy selling said the handle is for a 2005 so I am guessing it should be plug and play and just get the dealer to flash the computer, I pray!

I am sure this is not exactly what you are looking for but this is what I did. I also looked into replacing the door handle with one that had the built in key pad - I was told that not all trucks would have the wiring needed and I would not know unless I pulled the door apart. I also factored in the time and money for the handle replacement and the possible programming costs

This thing cost me around $30 from Ford and is really just a key fob that is stuck on with 3M tape - there is a simple process that links this pad and the number you choose to you existing key fob - I have had this on my truck for 4 years and its work perfectly every time -
