To Keep Them or Not To Keep Them...
Well I have to take my running boards off to do some work to them. The brackets have some surface rust starting and the clear coat on the chrome is flaking off and spotty. I was considering sanding them down and spraying them with bedliner or undercoating to sorta make them not as noticeable to make my truck look taller. Now I am wondering if I should just get rid of them all together. I personally don't need them however my mother does when I take her places. Also, my girlfriend said she don't care so I figured I'd take advantage of the opportunity lol. Any thoughts??? Will it look better?

I took mine off last fall and have kept them off. I don't need them and was tired of alway's getting dirt on my pant's when getting in and out of the truck. Plus i like the look's better with them off.

I would leave them off. Mine came with factory ones and the only reason I kept them is to help prevent rock chips down low/ door dings from cars. It would look better with no steps.

So your question is whether you will come out financially ahead by selling your truck and buying a 2015 salvage title, assuming you have the cash to support whichever decision?
The answer is almost certainly no for a number of reasons:
1 - There are transaction costs involved in buying/selling that you will never recoup. That's why the dealer price is so much more than the trade-in value.
2 - It doesn't seem likely to me that a 2015 was salvaged purely due to hail damage.
3 - Even so, when you eventually are ready to sell the 2015 it would be worth drastically less.
My advice: don't worry about your so-called equity according to KBB which isn't that accurate anyway. When you bought the truck, you thought it was worth what you paid for it. If you're not selling it anytime soon, the value of the truck is immaterial.
