Default Just put a CB radio in the truck

Well I decided to install a CB radio in the truck. I bought a cobra 29 LTD 40 channel from a local CB shop off of 301 in Jacksonville, FL. The guy was going to sell me a tool box mount antenna until he knocked on the bed and said it wouldn't work. i asked why and he said because my bed is a composite material. Is this right? I have the stepside bed.

So he sold me a magna-mount antenna that goes on top of the cab. Not sure if I like it yet. I heard that the magnet can scratch the paint. Any suggestions on what I can do in order to get the toolbox mount antenna?

Im guessing your truck is a stepside. Otherwise it has a metal bed, I can prove that with the rust bubbles on mine.

Where did you mount the unit?

You would guess right Sir! The unit i mounted on the passenger side. Its installed near the cup holder since I didn't have enough wire to put it anywhere else. It is held by some heavy duty velcro.

Got any suggestions about my dilemma?

Our company trucks had a bracket bolted onto the frame just under the hood, kind of opposite of the radio antenna.

Thru glass antenna. My brother had one on his old truck at one point.
