So my truck just hit a hundy thousand, I have asked around and heard a few problems that should be delt with before or right at 100,000 and was hopin you guys could give me your expert opinions on what I should be most worried about and what should be top of my list of things to do, thanks!!!

Your not a 97-02ish 4.6, and your not a 5.4 3V I think, so spark plugs should be a breeze. By 100k you should be ready to change plugs

Actually he is a 5.4/3valve.

So plugs need to get changed(@100k,some more than likely will break off).Trany flushed and filled.Front and rear difs fluids should be changed out for new fluid.Oil change of course.

I'd not worry about a thing. At 100K, you are only about halfway to the engines life expectancy.

Have you seen the Valvoline oil comercials on TV lately? They've up'd their mileage guarentee to over 200K now, and you have to register before 100K (if memory serves me). The reason is that engines today get well over 200K with decent maintenance intervals. Follow the manufacturers recommended maintenance program. The above posts have given you outlines of what should be done as recommended by the manufacturer. I'd also recommend visiting your local Ford dealer and asking for the service interval for your truck. They'll print it for free and give it to you. keep it in your glove box. The dealer where I purchased my truck used sends me reminders in the mail that I might have service due. These reminders have the recommended service printed on the back of the reminder.

generally speaking, fatal engine failure is not common, unless you forget to tighten your oil drain plug or something... and even then the motor is probably going to failsafe anyway. valvoline initiated an EXCELLENT campaign, for their payouts are going to be minimal, but people feel like their guarantee is a godsend.

you're going to have to worry about other powertrain pieces... tranny, plugs, 4x4 system if you have it, power windows, etc. the motor is pretty well built.

You might want to look into changing out the bearings in your axle. The rears usually start to wear bad by 100k. I have 80k on mine and they are already showing signs of wear while I drive.

mmmmmm.........that's something to consider.
I have 115,000 miles and have not had that problem yet, how much would the dealer charge to get those changed?

The only problem I've had (5.4) is the rear-end went out at 101,000 miles.
Had the "stealer" change out the plugs for $150.00.

Runs like a scolded dog!

Thanks everyone for the replies they have helped out a bunch and given me a clear idea on what needs to get done, can anyone give me some estimates on how much some of these things will cost???
