Default Just got my truck back geared from 3.55 to 4.10

So i just got my truck back today i dropped it off monday and had the nitro front and rear done with bearings and master install kits. i went from 3.55 to 4.10
The reason i did this was as follows. i run a landscape truck up here in asheville nc 2,000 ft plus about sea level. i cannot keep a set mph over 55 on any type of incline pulling only 3,500lbs. so far i am in the break in period but i have noticed my evo reading better mpg by as much as 4-5 i was running mostly 10-12 now 16-17, i also have 33" tires i have on which are new but have stock 31" to put back on incase towing does not improve enough. i will keep you all up to date on the progress as far as mpg towing speed accelerations and over all driving ability. cost of new gears ran about 900.00 install was another 980 for labor fluid and tire balance.

Nice on the performance news with the new upgrade. I'm similar setup but with 4.56 and 34.5 inch tires. Where did you get them done? I got lucky and had a smaller local shop do them for 940 with yukon gears. Total price out the door.

that price sounds right for just the gears them selves, i doubt its possible to do the install from a local shop with the cost of install kits for both front and rear plus ring and pinion sets for both. i searched for about 6 months studying parts costs install kits and needs. the install with front and rear is 8 hours to do master install is about 15.5

Just did silicone to reseal the diffs is why. No master install kit. Truck only had 60k miles so they didn't think it was necessary. Holding up great so far and tows way better than the old 3.55s. For the price I have no complaints.

He had 3.55 ratio and 33" tires to begin with. It wouldn't be so bad if he initially had stock 3.73 with those tires.

He said 900 for parts and 980 for labor, fluids and alignment.

I paid 940 for just gears and install. No master install kits.

I have nothing really constructive to say about your new mod other than it seems cool and I'm glad you like. Also I'm about an hour from you at WCU.

ok so something you guys have to remember is that upon entering higher elevation the air drops. meaning you lose peak hp, i may be wrong but i think you lose 10% torque for every 1,000 feet about sea level. so at 2,000 feet with my 33" tires i am losing about 25% of the power vrs stock at sea level. most of you that have driving up into the mountains noticed a huge loss in acceleration and pep while up here then it returns when you get back down.
