Default Issues with towing and oversized tires?

Will I have any issues towing a horse trailer when running my 34" Trail Grapplers? I dont haul a lot but do haul sometimes, will I have any issues towing with the oversized tires considering it takes a lot more out of the truck and transmission to move these large tires.

Thanks

The issue with towing is how much weight? What is your truck rated at? Do you have a tow package? Do you have trailer brakes? Yes, your tires do affect what your truck is rated at?

I tow three different trailers. two of which are heavy by themselves so I am careful when I load up the trailers.

one trailer is 3300 dry so I would guess with adding 4 people water food bicycles and camping gear I could be getting up to 4500 -5000 lbs. my truck towed fine on a 2500 mile trip to Yosemite and Tahoe.
but be aware if you tow at the max tow capacity you take a chance of overheating your trans, or overworking your trans ... possible early trans failure.

Awesome thanks for the info. Our trailer is about 2500lbs and with horse and everything else probably no more than 3500lbs so I wouldnt see any issues. We are not going anywhere near 2500 miles either so... good news!

Thanks again for the pics and info!!!

If you have the 5.4 and 3:73 gear's it won't be a problem.

the taller the tire, the higher you are making your effective gear ratio. if you have 3.73's and have a tire that's 10% taller, you are down to 3.35's before you add in the effect of the added weight and rolling resistance that are robbing power too!

Don't expect to be winning any tractor pull events.

Then there is the whole center of gravity thing, and when that trailer starts getting hit with a good still cross wind it will push the truck around a bit

Just to let you know!: when I put the 4:56 gears on my truck I had 35" tires. at 70 mph my tac read 2200 rpm
when I switched to 36" tires my tac read 2000 rpm at 70mph both reading are in OD

so you recommend 4.56's over 4.10's??? I mostly do hwy/city driving.....and usually pull my trailer(250MILES) every weekend during the summer months.....
