Issues resolved in 2006 fx4?????
Newbie here,
Im looking into buying a 2006 fx4 with 70,000 miles. Ive been looking around this forum for a couple of minutes and notice that there are some problems with the spark plugs, cam phaser, and possibly the exhaust on the 04-08 engines. Did they ever resolve these issues in 2005 or 2006 models? Is this something to be concerned about?

My 2006 FX4 has 125,000 miles and none of the problems you mentioned.
I think like any mass produced item you will get a few issues here and there, but with the IntErWEb's ability to focus like a laser beam people will only hear of the few problems that exist on a few vehicles, rather than the hundreds of thousands of vehicles with no problems whatsoever.
The only big thing I've done is something I would consider a maintenance item, I changed the plugs and coils with genuine Motorcraft parts at about 120k miles. My dealer allowed me to purchase the parts via Amazon at about half price and I just purchased labor from the dealer. Helps that I have 8 Fords he maintains for me.

Later 08. I think build date after something like November did they fix the sparkplug problem. Dont rememeber where I saw that.
04 and 05, from what I understand, had the cam problem.

5.4's made after 10/07 have the re-designed heads...this is a motor build date...not the truck.
