Default Intake leak

2008 KR 5.4

I just got back from a very long holiday trip from South Florida to East Tennessee and back, to find coolant pooled up around my injectors and coils on the passenger side. Experience tells me the intake manifold is leaking and I know they've been problematic on modular engines in the past.

My question is, are there any known problems with the intakes cracking on these trucks, or was that only on the 2v engines? Also, if it is a common issue, where has everyone been getting replacements? When I worked at O'Reillys Dorman was the way to go, but it looks like they go for a few hundred dollars. I'd like to get it fixed before I take another long trip for Christmas in a few weeks. Thanks.

I've seen a lot of people having bad experiences with Dorman products on our 5.4 engines. Either they don't work or when they do they don't last long. That's just for engine parts. A lot of people stick with Motorcraft when it comes to engine parts. For example I just swapped out my TPS sensor for a BWD. Within a few days I had to swap it out for a Motorcraft one because the BWD one just wasn't jiving with the throttle body. As soon as I installed the motorcraft one, it was a difference between night and day.

Having worked at Orielly's, BWD was our top of the line stuff. But before I even start this project I want to read as much about it as possible. The problem is, I can't find much on the topic.

I JUST had my intake manifold replaced on my 2007 4.6 SCREW. The mechanic used a Dorman. It's only been a few hundred miles, but I have yet to have any problems with it. If I do, I will post.
