instrument cluster gauges big issue
#11
I have the same problem right now ! I installed a new in dash DVD player and now the lights to my instrument cluster and the lights to my AC/heat controls are all out . I have no idea what to do to correct this problem . #6 fuse was blown but I replaced . Still nothing . Fuse has not blown again . Are the lights to the ac/heat controls on the same fuse . Anyone know how to help me fix my screw up .

Did you hook up the illumination wire (usually orange) when wiring the new radio harness to the factory harness? If you did, try disconnecting that and see if it fixes the problem.

Question
If it was plug-and-play then I'd start tracing any wires to their source and see if anything got displaced by accident.
See if you can find a wiring diagram for your truck and start looking for common connections or joints, there has to be some common point to all this.

sounds too me like you have a bad ground in your tail lights. I beleve if the tail lights don't work the dash lights are supposed too stop working to let you know of a problem. try grounding your tail lamps out better see what that does.

Check the wiring on that installed DVD player. A wire may have come loose, shorting itself to a ground (or another wire).
I'm a firm believer in using the wiring kits when installing aftermarket radios, and solder (no crimps!). NEVER CUT OR TAP INTO FACTORY WIRING!
Reading these threads makes me even more of a believer. I've never had an aftermarket radio cause electrical failures.

yea i made sure to use the wiring harness for the vehicle cause ive had problems in the past and even when replaceing the tv/dvd with the factory the issue is still there and now im even having problems getting the truck to start which has been leading to needing a new battery yea i def will not replace from now on just keep the factory and have no issues
