Thumbs up Insterment panel bulbs replace 2005 Exped

Just finished changing the insterment panel light bulbs on a 2005 Expedition EB. After lowering tilt steering wheel and gear shift lever all the way down remove two screws on underside of dash above the gauges.
Then pull out around the perimater of the dash face.
Reach in behind the dash panel and disconnect the three electrical connectors on the left sideand the dash can be rotated to the right to disconnect the remaining connectors.
Remove two screws at the bottom of the gauge insert and it will tilt out at the top to remove the two main connectors on the back at the top. They are unlocked with a swing over latch. No tools needed there.
Now lift the gauge insert and pinch the tabs on each end of the shift selector at the bottom of the cluster and slide it down being careful not to bend the red indicator needle that is attached.
The gauge cluster can be lifted out to get access to the bulb holders.
Grab each bulb holder and rotate counterclockwise 1/4 turn and pull out.
My reccomendation is to replace them all while you have the cluster out.
They are available at Kmart or autoparts for about $5.00 for two.
The mini bulbs are Sylvania #74 and are just pulled out and pushed in to replace.
Only push in far enough to seat the bulb. If pushed too hard the holder will be to big to fit the hole it goes in. Re-install new bulbs with a pair of needle nose pliers and
Reverse this process to finish the job. What a differance! Make sure the dimmer is turned up again to test all bulbs. Happy Motoring!!!!!!!
