I contacted Mobile Video Wholesale that raceman provided a link to and they told me that to ship to Canada I have to order through Tailgate Camera.com here:
http://tailgatecamera.com/collection...-emblem-camera

Raceman, when did you buy your emblem camera? The current price on both websites is US$180.

The only other emblem camera I've found on the internet, other than eBay, is here:
https://www.camera-source.com/produc...nd-sport-track

Comparing the info on the 2 websites, Camera Source claims theirs has a bit better camera but everything else looks the same in terms of quality. The Camera Source unit comes with pre-installed loom, a bit more cable (they claim) and maybe a different guide line pattern? But the price at Camera Source is $100 more.

Both are a CMOS cameras rather than a CCD camera. A CCD camera would have a better image and work better in low light conditions. For a CCD camera, I found this one:
http://www.rearviewsafety.com/rvs-771.html

Although that one wouldn't be as clean an installation, it would be a better camera and better cabling for a much lower price (US$115 with the license plate mount). And a much easier installation.

Does anyone else have any experience with any of these cameras? What's the image like at night with the stock backup lights?

Following this, as well as some other information on installing the factory emblem camera in a 2009 F150 to an aftermarket deck, I have found a few glitches with my project;

I purchased the factory camera and harness from Ford (in Toronto,Canada). I got the whole setup for about $200.

I took it to a radio shop and the guy installed the camera and ran the harness down the tailgate. At this point, he snipped off the end of the harness and used the wiring map to solder and run wires to the front of the truck.

The deck is an Eclipse AVN4430 that had a hook up for a rearview camera. The guy attached an RCA plug to the video feed and plugged it into the deck.

the setup works, HOWEVER, the feed is mostly in black and white and a little wavy. Even the coloured lines are in black and white most of the time and the resulting picture leaves a lot to be desired.

I returned the camera to Ford, thinking it may be a faulty unit, but the new unit does exactly the same thing.

I spoke to another installer and they said that possibly the guy didn't use the proper wire for the video feed and that there may be too much resisitance in the wire to get a perfect signal.

I THOUGHT I researched this enough on the forums, but unfortunately there seems to be an issue I still have to fix. Everyone seemed to not have any problems hooking up the factory emblem camera to an aftermarket deck, so I am wondering what is going wrong!!

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT MAY BE CAUSING THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO FIX IT?

Just thought I would chime in on this one to help clarify. Our kit does cost a bit more but there are some quality differences. Some of the significant differences are:

1. We use OEM components so emblems/handles are factory Ford parts, not foreign made knock-offs that won't last
2. Our cameras use a high quality Super CMOS image sensor. These sensors are expensive but you get what you pay for. We have 600 TV lines of resolution vs. the standard CMOS III of 480 - the difference is substantial
3. We custom program our image sensors for the best color, clarity, and resolution. The parking guidelines are part of the program so we make them look exactly like the OEM camera
4. Our harnesses are all pre-loomed and the power wire is long enough to get you into the cab. Other kits will require you to connect at a reverse light, which will require special attention to ensure that it doesn't corrode over time. The loom is critical and protects your harness from gravel and road debris.
5. Detailed instructions are included to help simplify the installation
6. We stand behind our products with a no hassle warranty and excellent customer service!
