i understand that driving habits play part too, ever since i got this truck i have been keeping light on the pedal. but my drive to work is stop and go, so bad that within a quarter mile between stop lights by the time you get to the speed limit the next light turns yellow so i hit 7 lights and one 4 way stop on my 2 mile trip to work every day. sometimes i can get passed one of the seven without stopping.
im just saying if you get 12mpgs and move up to 14mpgs, about every 10k you put on you save around 500 dollars. so if you put 1000dollars in to upgrades and keep your driving habits the same and get the 2mpg increase, if you have it for the next 20k miles you will just about have your money back. for some people that might be a year and a half. but for wxm at 300miles per month that is around 6 years. plus you will have the extra performance.
if you are getting 15mpgs and move up to 17, it will take longer to get the money back. by the gas prices now it would take about 30k miles

Out here in Hawaii my driving is 95% stop-n-go and 5% hwy and I'm seeing right around 11-11.5 mpg's. The only good thing is I'm only putting about 300 miles a month on the truck.
That's actually terrible for a 2wd truck. You should be getting 2 to 3 mpg better than 4wd, must be very heavy.

Well I'm sure the 6" lift and 35" tires probably have something to do with my poor gas mileage as well. Mainly though it's because it's all stop-n-go traffic out here in Hawaii. Rarely do I get my truck above 40 mph because of traffic or the next stop light.

Anybody listening? If you have a stop and go commute time the lights so that you don't come to a complete stop at each intersection. Good mileage takes discipline and attention to the art and science of driving. I know nowadays you have phones and Ipods and all that other crap to keep you from concentrating on your driving. In Germany cars don't even have cup holders, they don't want anything to distract from the driving experience.

If you want to do something about the price of oil vote for someone other than Obama in November. He is actually happy that gas is $4/gallon, he stated that in a campaign speech. His only regret is that it rose so quickly. My brother works in the oil business in Colorado and he told me they are drilling as many holes in the ground as they can because they are frightened that Obama will stop oil exploration if he's President.

Is it just a coincidence that since the democrats have taken control of the senate and house that gas prices have doubled. I think not.
