Good luck with the 6.0 and the head gasket if you add any power to it, they are junk compared to the 7.3.

The 6.0 was fixed by 2006 (its the 04-05 you have to worry about) as far as the turbo is concerned. The headgasket is not actually the problem, its the studs. Replace the studs with some ARP ones if you intend on adding any significant power.

Theres been other threads about this same thing but unless you really haul something very heavy a lot I would not go with the 250, they cost so much more to maintain, diesel prices are unpredictable and often run quite a bit higher than gas, and like someone else said, you get less than 10 mpg with that truck, take all that into consideration before buying. I know they look bad *** and everything but IMO its not worth it. I traded in for a lifted 250 about 6 months ago, after driving for about 5 days I took it back to the dealership. I would just put money into lifting the truck you have, its a really nice truck, I would go with a 6 or 8 in lift put some 35' or 37's on there with some different rims and it will look bad ***, just sayin.

Default it's nice knowing people!!

I talked with a friend that works in the parts dept...gave here the VIN off the truck and she finds that they JUST replaced the steering gear box, also noted in the file was that it needs inner and outter tie rods, but they weren't going to replace them, just selling it AS/IS for 34K !!!

and the warr will run out in Oct 2011... and unless I get a ext warr from a outside source, i'll be footing the bill for everything after that!

Looks like new blue is getting to stick around in the stables for a while longer!

I wouldn't do it. My mom's boyfriend is a Ford Diesel Mechanic and after seeing all of the Cab-off chassis repairs and seeing the repair bills over 15k, I don't think getting into a diesel at these times would be worth it unless you plan on pulling a lot. You can buy a crate 5.4 long block for the price of the diesel injectors alone. Ive also seen a bunch of 6.4's with cabs off with the same issue. I just got out of my 2005 Duramax for the same reason. Nothing had gone wrong...yet, but it just wasnt worth the chance of anything ever going wrong. Buying a diesel just isnt as practical as it once was these days. I'de stay with your truck unless you NEED a diesel.

I would probably never own a ford with a diesel. Cummins or Duramax only. The powerjoke has been junk since around 2002.
