Default ignition gremlin?

I have a 2004 F150 FX4. There have been a few times that I remove the key from the ignition and the warning chimes are going off like I have left the lights on or a door open. The lights are not on, nor interior, nor doors open. So, what I have figured out is that if I put the key back in the ignition and turn over and then remove the key the chimes do not come back on and all is good. If I do not do this and ignore the chime warning, twice I have come back to a dead battery. Likely if I take it to the business we go to and have it addressed, they will just replace the ignition with my information. Any thoughts? I have access to AllData so if there is something there I do have a subscription.
Thanks,
Jenn

Sounds like the ignition tumbles/contacts for the chime are dry. Spray your key with WD-40 and work the key in the ignition several times. I think that might fix it.
