Default Idle is low

Need help with this. Have a 2005 f150 crew cab with a 5.4l new body style. The idle is really low like 400-500 at times. I have checked everything possible. Was reading about cleaning the throttle body. Have any of you guys done this and how hard is it? Also if you know of something I should be checking please let me know thanks.

Take off and clean your throttle body and clean your MAF. Make sure you use the special MAF cleaner. Taking off the throttle body is easy, just several connections.

The picture is small on my phone, so I can't tell if it helps locate the MAF or not. It's located on the top left side of the air filter box. Left meaning the engine's left, if you're looking at it then it'll be your right. Cleaning both the throttle body and MAF are super easy. If you need, I think there is a write up about it on the forum (do a search for it), and use the correct cleaner for both.
Keep in mind that these engine's idle low anyway. 400 is too low, but a little over 500 is about right.

Thanks for the help. I got the cleaner today and going to be doing this tomorrow. I was wanting to ask you think the serpentine belt would be getting loose? I haven't changed and the truxk has 170000 on it. Thanks for the help.

Cleaning throttle body and MAF is easy. I was able to do it no problem using helpful threads in this forum. The only thing I ran into was that its location combined with my truck being lifted made it a major pain in the *** to get off without contorting yourself. Just be patient and make sure you dont drop the rear bolts!

At 170K, yes, change that belt! There is a general rule on cracks per inch, but that is now replaced by the depth of the belt grooves. Replace it every 5 years and you will be fine.
