Default Icon Vehicle Dynamics

Hi guys,

I've had my 2005 SuperCrew 4x4 for a few years now and at 165K miles it's about time to replace the suspension. I am currently on deployment so I'll have a bunch of time to research the options available and I'l have a little coin to drop into the build when I get back.

The truck is being geared toward overland/expedition style travel. I currently run a Hell Bent Steel 2" leveling kit on the front end over the stock strut assembly. I like the leveled look, no plans for anything higher than that (Method 105 Beadlocks and 33" tires are already in the works).

My main problem: I really want to run a system from Icon Vehicle Dynamics. I would like to run one with a remote reservoir and the adjustable dampening, but that is only offered in their kit for the 09-14 F150.

Is there a major difference in the shock mounting/UCA mounting points between the 04-08 frame and the 09-13 frame? From just a cursory look at my truck and my buddies '09 STX it looks the same. Hopefully someone out there has some experience working with both frames directly or possibly some engineering data/precise measurements.

09-13 kit- http://iconvehicledynamics.com/shop/...m-stage-5.html

Thanks for the help!

It is my understanding that there is only a minor difference in the LCA mounts, everything else is the same. Lots 04-08 guys have converted to Raptor gear so even the LCA difference is insignificant.

Thanks. I've heard of a lot of guys doing that, I would like to avoid adding track width. Does anyone have any detailed pictures of both the 09-13/04-08 lower control arms and other components? I'm halfway around the world from my truck so I can't get any.

I wasn't suggesting you run Raptor parts, I meant it as an illustration that the parts will interchange (04-08 to 09-13).

For the purposes of comparing to two kits in the links you provided there is no difference. UCAs are the same, knuckles are the same, coilovers mount the same, rear shocks mount the same.

My .02 - there is really no reason for the external reservoir on an 8" travel coilover (9.5" with the UNI UCA) other than looks. You would have to be beating on your truck to exceed the cooling abilities of the non-resi and IMO would be on the hairy edge of damaging other stock components.

Fair enough, my misunderstanding.

From a lookover everything does looks the same, no major differences that I can figure out. I'm about 90% confident I can pull it off I just wanted to see if anyone had any input.

I'm not so much hung up on the remote reservoir; the thing that I really like is the CDC Valve that allows you to adjust the dampening characteristics with the turn of a ****. That capability isn't offered without the remote resi.

They can do the CDC's on 04-08 f150's, you just have to ask. I have CDC's on my icon rear shocks.
