Default 2005-2007 engine swap problem.

I just finished putting a used 2007 engine replacing my 2005 orig. When I got to the end the 2007 does not have a oil temperature hole for a sensor in the pan.
I suppose this would connect to the phasers. I get a check engine light without having anything hooked to it, but no problem with the sensor attached but not in oil pan. Does anyone have a work around?? Or know if it is even necessary??
Or do I have to spend another 3-4 hours jacking up the engine and putting the old pan on the 2007??? 5.4L 3V vin 5.
Thanks in advance,
Russ

You could just plug the sensor in and zip tie it somewhere underneath.

Iam sure the PCM uses coolant temp for reference.

It's up to you.

The PCM uses this sensor to engage the phasers once the oil reaches a certain temp. Possibly for other systems also.

Wink still doesn't work

I found in some thread, they had taped it to the upper radiator hose, but that didn't work for me>>.
