Default Cruise control didn't work

I just completed a 6 hour drive home tonight. When I started truck to begin the trip and hit interstate the cruise control would not work. The "set" button on the steering controls of my 2004 Lariat didn't work at all. I tried the on/off button several times and no luck. I stopped for gas about an hour into the drive and when I started up and got back in interstate and the cruise worked fine. Never had an issue before with the cruise. Anyone ever had an intermittent case like this?

May be the "on" switch contact being flaky.

A friend of mine had the same issue. He said, the switch, which deactivates cruise control (i don't know the exact name of the part) located under the braking pedal was not working proper. Maybe it helps.

I've had the same thing happen on long trips. When in heavy traffic and I turn the cruise off and on several times it quits working. A slight tap on the brake pedal resets it and the cruise works just fine.

What??? The brake light switch is easily removable, and tiny. I doubt it's that much for this switch.

Must be the Motorcraft Cruise Control Release Switch (SW6546) for about 17 bucks at o'reilly auto parts if this switch caused your issue...
