boondock wants to talk about professionalism in the threads and try and cut me down and what not.... but professionalism between vendors means that when someone is asking for a product in a thread.... the first vendor to the thread gets to stay in the thread... there's no PM behind the scenes and no trying to sell their stuff instead inside the thread....

I dont know how many forums you are on guys, but if you wanna try and be professional.. the vendor rules apply.. written and unwritten.... i am on about 30-40 forums and I have competitors on most of them... and i will not break those rules even if it means losing a sale because most of them... i do say most, cuz not all abide, wont do it to me....

I got on this thread because you were cutting us down. We didnt offer up any info about our bumpers till someone asked. Noone even asked you a question about your bumpers and you didnt start it, so how was this your thread? All you had done on here was jump in to cut down other peoples products. We havent and will not jump in on a thread where another bumper vendor has started asnwering questions about their product, but we will jump in if we are being put down and defend our product. The "true offroad bumper" thread was shut down because of this stuff! After I defended our product I had nothing else to say to you or about your product, I was answering a forum members question!

Just as a causal observer and someone who is not in the market for either bumper, I think Boondock is right in this situation, DunesRunner, you did cut on Boondock first when nobody was looking for you to do that. In my opinion, thats bad business etiquette and if I were in the market for a bumper I would not purchase one from you on account of you trashing the competition.

I'm no expert, but after doing the fab and truck build thing for 20 twenty years, Boondock does make a good looking bumper. Compared to some others, I'm not one for the 4" tube and diamonplate fire truck bumper on these newer trucks. IMO Fabfours and some of the others are WAY overpriced and not that good looking to me. that just means for me, they're not right. I'm throwing my hat in the bumper making ring soon because of that. A great bumper should be no more than a grand, and an average, (I'm talking looks not quality) should be around 600. That's winch mount, Drings and lights. We know the cost of steel, 1/4" 3/8' and 3/16" isnt like buying plutonium, and what 2 hours to cut it out and assembly? So we got $150 for materials, and lets say 3 hours labor even taking lunch, at the average 75 per hours and you have a 100% profit if sold at $600 throw in some tubing for a pushbar and of course other options to push the price up. I for one am very tired of builders trying to recoup the cost of all their time and engineering in the sale of one bumper for $2600. I can buy 3 jeeps or two ford trucks for that money. So far Boondocks seems to be the go to guy. just my two cents.

Obviously you have never ran a business... if you can build one in your garage for 600 by all means do it... I appluad you for your effort.... there is a lot of overhead when running a business, and steel prices once again are rising again, just FYI.... when running a business, you have machinery that needs up keep, you have labor, you have coating the bumpers, you have electricity, you have rent for the factory, you have advertising costs, you have salaries for office personel, you sales personel to pay... and the list goes on and on... and if you want to try and make a bumper like mine in 3 hours, I would pay if you if made it identical in that amount of time... just because materials cost a few hundred doesnt mean thats all that goes into the cost of a bumper... and dont forget R&D, and DOT testing, etc.... it costs about $5k to build and release a new bumper and about another $4k to have it DOT tested and approved...

Congrats Bill! You are doing a terrible job of marketing your product. I like how your first post trashing boondockbumpers doesnt include your avatar that says you are a competing vendor. Glad somebody called you out on it. I wouldnt buy a bumper from you after seeing this thread. Maybe you should work on decreasing your overhead so your products arent so overpriced.

i would agree, i seriously looked at getting one from one of the companies and i said nevermind. being the mechanically inclined person i am, i will try to build one first, if it doesnt work out then i will find one. so that is what i am doing.

I don't think boondocks came on here trying to just sell, he defended his business and then some one asked him questions, which he responded to promptly, looks like good customer service to me....

How much does that exact bumper on post 8 in this thread cost? That looks awesome! I wouldn't mind having one on my pickup but I dont feel like paying 6 arms and a leg haha
