Default I think I know why it won't start....

A couple of days ago I went to fire up my '04 F150 (FX4), and it wouldn't turn over. Thanks to this web site, I deduced that there is no fuel getting to the engine - and the most common issue associated with this is the Fuel Pump Driver Module. So...I dropped the spare tire hoping to see if there is an obvious issue with the module that is mounted above it - and yup - it looks to be shot! Corroded so bad it split in two pieces, and was hanging due to the spare tire no longer supporting it. I ordered a new one off of Amazon (Dorman 590-001) and it will arrive tonight. Hoping against all hope this is the issue!!!

I'm thinking it is......

Driver Module when spare wheel dropped.

I'm willing to place a small bet that is the culprit... hopefully it did not take out something else with it..

All Fixed!!!
That was indeed the problem. Fired right up and runs great.

Here is a pic of the new module installed - I was a little over zealous with spray when taking the old bolts out.

oh yeah...this forum is AWESOME!!!

Notice how the newer replacement has "legs" and two rubber bushings/spacers to keep the modules base off of the frame? This is to help keep the snow/salts/dirt from getting in between the module and frame, which is why the modules back side corrodes in the first place.
To anyone who still has their stock unit: get some longer bolts, along with several rubber washers (or two plastic bushings/spacers) from any good hardware store, and place the washers or bushings behind the module to space it off the frame, then use the longer bolts to mount it. It will help keep the crud from building up and rotting the backside of the module.
