Default I have a question??!

Okay so i am 17 and have around 9500 to spend on my first f150! On this budget how is the best way to buy and mod a f150. My idea was. ..... 04-06 f150 probably xl or xlt because often they are cheaper in work style. I can find them (7500). Leveling kit (150). 3inch block lift (500). 33's or 35's probably used (500). Rims (600). And the rest will go to installation cost. What are your opinions? Thanks

i would honestly save a little more money so u can get the one u want took me 5-6 months to find mine. As far as mods go i would just drive it for a while and stick to the diy stuff first before spending a bunch of money on it (hids, gotts mod), never know what the previous owner failed to mention. Not to rain on your parade but block lifts are g@y just my opinion. I would say a leveling kit or a real suspension lift is the best way to go to get those tires in there. Im sure u already know those bigger tires will have an effect on your gas mileage. maybe u should look into programmers or power modules as well to gain a few more ponies and mpg's.

I don't mean any disrespect, you sound like u have been doing some research. I wish u best of luck in becoming a proud new F150 owner.

Oh, i forgot to mention when u get your truck register it with ford and have the recent recall on the air bags performed, self deploying air bags can be a rude awakening.

Yes i have been doing my research day and night and i read up on this forum every day. I have been saving and working hard for awhile. I agree with the body lift lol dont worry i hate them too its just i dont to spend more cause blocks are 500 with around 100 installation with a 150$ for a leveling kit from what i see suspension lifts will run me 1400 for the lift and 700 installation :\

Amigo if I were in your shoes I would run away from the block lift like it was the devil. I'm an ex jeep guy and I've read too many stories of jeep enthusiasts putting in a block lift then maxing out the off road abilities of their rig and the blocks get spit out. Then suddenly you are left without any suspension what so ever. Save up your money and go with a true suspension lift. Or my favorite go to the scrap yard, find a lifted truck, and piece together your suspension lift for a hell of a lot cheaper than you can buy one brand new, as long as you're not afraid to get a little dirty. That's what I did on my jeep cherokee and it cost me a grand total of $100 for a full suspension lift.

Get the truck, level it out for $100-150, buy a gryphon edge cs for $550, and a gotts mod for FREE. Then you can clear 33s easy and 35s with the right amount of backspacing. Anything with a body lift should be drove off a cliff. Huge waste of money.

Though he wanted to buy an XL or XLT...I don't think 35 would fit that truck.

4x4 xl and XLT are same height. Shouldn't matter the trim level. Should it?

If you are considering 33's, I'd also consider a rear end gear change. Some folks have posted here that their rear end gave out after a short time when they installed rim/tire setups such as 33's.
