Default I hate setting my truck have damage.

I had to pull my brother out of mud this morning I was putting tension on the strap and told him to reverse it he said he was and when I hit the gas the strap snapped then I realized that idiot was in park the whole damn time. The metal part of the strap jumped and almost hits my rear window but thankfully didn't since it was pouring out, but not I have a dent on the top corner of my truck. All he did was laugh while I wanted to beat the hell out of him. Here is the strap that snapped

Sorry about the damage but next time have a proper recovery strap with no metal parts. Your ratchet strap has no stretch and just snaps when you hit it hard. You were lucky it was just the truck and not your head.

Thanks brother, though it wasn't a ratchet strap it was a tow strap. I used what I had and my brother in law had my recovery strap and I had no way of contacting him since he was working. Usually have everything I need but this time I didn't. It was a failure on my part.

It's easy to preach but I'm a sinner as well and, like you, by necessity...
Mostly, be careful. A broken strap can kill you.
Glad you came through unscathed...

Yeah, I guess what got me really pissed was my brother just laughing cuz he though it was funny. I had to tell him it wasn't funny that it could of easily gone through my window and hit my head. Though, I should of known better then to use the tow strap I was just in a hurry since it was raining like crazy and wanted to get out of there.

You should have your brother pay for the damage.
1- for getting stuck
2- for being a dumbass and keeping it park while trying to be towed out.
3- for laughing at the damage for being a dumbass.

But, he's your brother so not much you can do.

Yeah, I'm just going to get quotes from the body shops, it's at a bad spot so it might be expensive

Might want to invest in one of those Strap/cable dampeners, they just drape over the cable/strap to keep the end form flying so high.
Heck I have seen people tie rop in the center like so for the same purpose.

Lucky.
You tube is a great source for learning proper recovery techniques. While you're sitting at the body shop watch some you tube videos and make a shopping list for the correct gear.

That's one hell of a dent! Looks expensive but thankfully it's no ones head
