Yeah I though I had put it back on right. I'm going to try again today and if not take to napa to see if I can get the part. Is there a certain way it goes on?

If you can get it to move far enough, take it and get the code read, unless you can do it yourself (or know someone who can read the cel code) Turkey may be right on, but if that does not fix it, just changing parts while guessing gets to be darn expensive (ask my do it I'll do it myself son)

I hope you know you can get the codes read for free (if you can get it there) at an autozone, or places like that......don't know about napa......call first before you go anywhere

If I was you I would pull the throttle body and get it on a table, take a good look at the parts you have messed with and see if you can tell how they would logically move together in a uniform manner..... Also google the part number and see if there is an "exploded view diagram" of the throttle body and it's parts.... Good luck!.... By the way if it's just your throttle position sensor that you messed with and a spring shot out of that, then you really should get a new one.

Could I just purchase a new sensor or a whole new throttle body?

No clue what truck you have but on the 04 5.4's I believe you have to buy the whole TB. Try tasca parts or rock auto.

Here are the instructions on how the spring and assembly go back together.

If the throttle position sensor has died then the new part runs about $90. Napa carries the correct Motorcraft part. I seriously doubt this is the problem. Sounds like you just put the spring assembly back together wrong.
