Question What tube is this???

Looked at the back and under my 08 F150 today and found a tube about 1.5ft long attached to and hanging down from the differential at a point where a couple of other lines connect. It's on the driver's side. This tube has a plastic plug on the end. The plug has a small opening on its end. Couldn't find where it connected to. Is this a breather tube? I blew into it, and it caused air pressure that blew back out. The plug was not "clean" like it would look if it had been connected inside another tube. It has a couple of little flanges/ears on it like it's supposed to be held inside a hole or something like that. What could this tube be and where does it go? Thanks.

Differential breather tube so if you submerge your axles water doesnt get in with gear oil, you want to mount it as high as it can go with room for it to travel as well.
