Back in November I bought new bulbs for my heads and fogs from Luminics. After my trim home from Christmas, I saw my fog light lenses are burnt/melted. When the bulbs are on the lenses cannot be touched due to heat. I am heading out to get a set of new fod lights today.

Does anybody know how to replace these. I have not yet looked behind the bumper, but I wanted to see if anybody had tips or pics of this factory replacement.

P.S. its a 2007 FX4 with round fogs

Crawl under the bumper; you'll see the fasteners used to hold them into the bumper.

Common fault folks are doing these days are to install brighter (read hotter) bulbs in their factory fogs (and in some cases the headlight assemblies). The plastic factory lenses will not hold up to the heat these brighter bulbs put out.

Too late for you, but I'll assume that if you replace them with the factory replacement part, you'll go back to the cooler factory recommended bulb.

Just unscrew the adjusting screw and push it out from the front towards the truck.It just sits in two notches.. I had the same problem with the Silverstar bulbs on mine.I bought mine from this place.Had them in 3 days.http://www.discountcarlights.com/cat...616+10327+9209

there are three bolts that you remove to take out the whole assembly or you can just pop out the light itself by removing the adjustment screw then use a screwdriver to pull the tabs up that hold the light in.

I was thinking about installing silverstars....are you saying they are too bright/Hot for the fog light lenses?

Thanks guys, it loose pretty easy.

I have used the silverstars on my toyota and they were great no melting lights. I was going to try the silverstar ultras. Has anyone tried these with better results than Redneckmafia. I like the brighter look and performance but HID's are not in my budget. And I really don't want to have to do this again. I figured sylvania's were a pretty safe bet.

i have silverstars now, but the fogs burnt out on me in less then a year already. my HID kit will be here tomorrow.

btw nick, i got a 55W headlight and 35W foglight HID kit with optional wiring harness for 125 shipped. look at the price of silverstars, its not much more for the HID.

I put the 55 watt SS bulbs in and in a matter of maybe 2 hours of use the lenses were melting. The only thing I can see is the factory specified bulb is blacked out on the tip and the silverstars are not and they are a slightly lower wattage...
