Stumbled on to your post with a similar problem, my shifter is sticking going in & out of Park. Solenoid works fine, but plunger sticks at times as well. Pulled cable off shifter and had same results. Any advise would be appreciated.

mileage? maybe your shifter is just wore out, or in need of lube.

AAK625,
Just out of curiosity, why are you replacing the solenoid. I didn't think that it was possible. My cruse control went out on me about a year ago and and from that point on I was able to put the truck into gear without having to press down on the break. Ford told me that it was the solenoid that had a short in it and failed in the open position, which was the cause of the problem and what was allowing me to put the truck right into gear. They also told me that I would have replace the whole center shifter assembly to fix the problem.

I have the same truck as yours. And now knowing that I can just replace the solenoid and not the shifter I think i'll take a swing at it and see if that fixes the problem

65,000 if I lube it, can I take apart, or just where I see openings with grease?

Well, for a few weeks I've been unable to shift out of park. The brake pedal doesn't lower the white plunger, allowing me to shift. I've had to manually push it down. Ford wants to replace the shifter priced at $400 and didn't quote me on the labor. I've tried testing all the fuses and they're good. At $56 after shipping from TascaFordParts.com, I'm willing to see if that's the problem. If not, oh well.

I'm going to attempt the job this week. Wish me luck.

AAK,

I find myself having the same issue and also need to replace this solenoid. Can you tell me how the install went? Also, the pictures ATOM provided on the thread are no longer available, showing some specifics. DO you happen to still have?
Thanks

Hey TB, quick question. Do you have the column shifter or the center console shifter?

That was one of the first things the guys on here told me to check. The pedal switch, the fuses, and the solenoid/actuator should be the only culprits. I don't recall anything else being suggested.

I'll try to find the appropriate part number for the solenoid. Taking into account the fact that I am not auto-inclined, it was very easy to replace. A few screws and a plug.
