Default How much are you guys paying for timing chain and phasers

So I am looking at getting my timing chain tensioners replaced so I am also going to have them do my phasers. The guy at the local shop told me I was looking at 3200! That seems crazy. I was expecting around 1400. I live in Madison heights Michigan and I'm wondering what other people payed for the same services. Thanks guys I'm driving a 2004 5.4 with 140,000 miles with normal ford scheduled fewer oil changes. The work is not being preformed at a dealer.

I did the whole job in my driveway including changing all the lash adjusters and followers for about $850. Not that hard of a job, just kinda time consuming.

1400 is what you can expect just for labor. Book time is 10-12 hours just for the timing cover. That's not counting all the timing components. 2 phasers gonna run 4-500, plus all the other timing parts and gaskets. Rack time, markup, etc.

It's easily a 3000 dollar tab.

I have done a bit of research on the job itself and I honestly feel that with my lack of expirence working in motors I would end up messing something up. I Don't want to end up walking to work 30 miles is a long hike! I just feel that I should let the pros handle a job like this.

So I guess my next question would be is it worth the money to invest in the motor.
