How Much did Your Cam-Phasers Cost?

Phasers make noise, now there is a difference between the noises they make which is hard to describe, as ford did redesign the phaser for the newer trucks, its usually just the 04 and 05 that have the old style if im not mistaking, the old style get very loud and will cause problems, a little noise is fine and perfectly normal, labor time on this job is about 12.5-14.00 hrs depending on who quotes it, this job can be done without even pulling the front cover with the correct tools, although the quote includes pulling the front cover and thats how we make a living is by finding shortcuts that are safe, so if you look at say 800 for parts and 14hrs labor at 110$ an hour plus tax which i used 7% GA you come out to 2503.80 plus shop fees now granted thats the high end of the scale, some shops may only charge 80 an hour we charge 110. your best bet is to find a ford tech who does side work, he can get you the parts at his cost and will probably only charge you 3-400 for labor depending if you want to do guides and tensionsers, in that case your probably looking at just at a grand, and with receipts ford will now warranty their parts not installed by the dealer, or so i heard.

1200 bucks I paid
Local Ford dealer did mine last year @ 73844 miles. I didn't like the "knock" although the pickup seemed to run ok. I am of the "school" that believes Knock=bad and could not tolerate it. Current miles around 79300 with no more knocking since. Went to 5W30 motocraft syn blend oil for the summer. Use 5W20 in the winter. Change twice a year if it needs it or not.

Warranty
Can you share some details in your warranty with fidelity? How much was it? Was it pretty easy to find a dealership that would honor it? What else does it cover and how long?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I bought my 04 FX4 about 4 months ago and purchased the fidelity extended drive train warranty. A few days later i noticed it had cam phaser knock. I brought it in and the dealer had called fidelity and told me it takes about a month for it to kick in so the dealer told me to give it a few months or so since it doesnt harm anything. About a week ago I had enough of listening to it along with my warped exhaust manifold so I decided to bring it in. I brought it in on tuesday morning for the dealer to document it and call fidelity. I got a call from the dealer a few hours later saying that my drive train warranty would in fact pay for new cam phasers AND exhaust manifold. The only thing they wont cover is solenoids. Dealer said it will be about $160 for the solenoids so its not all bad
