How Much did Your Cam-Phasers Cost?
Well guys/gals, I think I finally got the infamous cam-phaser bug. My 2006 5.4L has 72,500 miles on it and I'm starting to get the "diesel" sound when its warm and lately I've been noticing a vibration/shudder between 600-1100 rpm. Seems like cam-phaser symptoms...
I don't have the free time or place to fix this myself, So my question is:
Think its the solenoids or the phasers? And, How much is everyone typically paying to have Ford fix this?
I'm just trying to get a ballpark of how much I'm going to have to shovel out if this really is my problem
Thanks in advance!

I called one mechanic and he said for the phasers and timing chain it was around $2750. I got on the tasca auto parts site and the parts are under a thousand. I didn't want to do it myself but can't see paying them that much.

Thats nuts, I would buy a new motor, Jasper quoted me 4500 for a whole new 5.4 Jasper long block so I would do that over 2750

I'm hard pressed to pay almost $3000. That's insane for parts that don't cost that much. Plus I'm told the problem sometimes returns even after the replacement.
Does that Jasper quote include install? Because $4500 for a rebuilt motor is a lot too considering you still have to pull yours and put that one in, that could get pricey.
Is it worth it to try replacing the solenoids first? How much do they run?
