Default How many cats are there?

How many cats does an 08 f150 have? This truck is driving me nuts. It has a Flowmaster 40 series on it and it gets drowned out by a stock Durango. WTF? Ive heard that these things can have up to 4 cats....is this true. If so, which ones do I yank out to get this thing sounding like it has a V8 and not a lethargic 6 banger? Thanks.

P.S. Please dont bark at me that removing cats is illegal...The hypotheticals on what could and would happen are astounding. Besides, its a stock 08 F150 with an exhaust, it will turn heads, but its not gonna be like a built Big block...lol

theres two, no matter which one you rip out is going to make it louder. and probably throw codes, but to each his own. should have gone with a magnaflow, I have a 2.5 dual rear exit, sound awsome.

It's not illegal to remove them all. Some trucks have 4 and some have 2. As long as you don't remove them all. But you can't remove the front 2 because they have the o2 sensors and you will throw codes.

"leave the catless crap to chevy drivers". Thats cute. Well, just a quick FYI. Taking the cats out of the exhaust stream doesnt throw a CEL light or a code. What throws a code is the fact that your engine is dumping more/less fuel than it should be, because of the decreased backpressure, thus making the O2 read rich/lean.

Pretty bad that the Chevy guy had to clear that up for ya......lol

But at any rate, there's only 2 on this thing so Im just gonna throw some high flows in it and call it a day. Thanks.

Hi flow cats and or headers will help. Of course you could supercharge it and get some air moving through that motor. But if you do that you won't be beside the Durango long enough to know what his sounds like!
