Default How to get your trim black again

Last week my friend show me a video of a guy using a heat gun on your faded black plastic. So, last night i went out and bought a cheap heat gun from Home Depot and today i tried it out. D@$# it works. The plastic looks just like the day it came off the lot, or i think it did. The guy that owned it before me put wax on the bed caps and it bleached it and it even got that off too. I don't have pics of my bed caps because it got dark outside, but i have a picture of the wiper cowl and the bumper. It looks really great and thought i would share with all of you so no one goes and wastes money on that gel stuff that only lasts a couple of months.

No need to do anything but blow the heat gun on the trim and it turns black

Does it not leave heat lines in the trim?

I'm glad someone else does this also. I've read countless posts about that back to black garbage and peanut butter, but everyone likes to stick to that temporary fix for some reason.
This works, and it won't run down the side of your truck after the first rain.

No, no heat lines. My heat gun was set on 1000 degrees and that's the highest I would go. After you do blacken all your trim, I reccommend getting some UV protectant to put on it. I have some 303 Aerospace UV Protectant coming in the mail. When doing it make sure there is no droplets of water or any dirt and that the surface is clean. Water drops will make little white lines and if there is any dirt nothing will happen it will just stay the same color.
