Default How do you set the timing on a 5.4 3v?

I've just done the phasers and everything moved. I'm trying to get the chains right. While facing the truck my left phaser has L pointing up and right phaser has R pointing up. This should be the opposite. The colored links on the chains don't want to line up right and when I crank it by hand the springs on the phasers keep winding up and releasing! Can someone tell me how to set the timing starting from scratch?
